Casa Kirsipuu

Project description: Erika requests a nest

Erika Kirsipuu told her husband she would not have his baby unless they built a house for the family to live in. By now, both knew how to assemble one, so, one afternoon during a vacation in Panama they sat down and sketched the last version of their possible home.

The design details were chosen so the building would provide shelter even at early stages of construction should money run short during the process. Climate, wind, weight and bushfires all were considered and thus corrugated tin was chosen as the outer skin for the house. Counterintuitively, all visitors are surprised at how fresh and cool one can live in a tin house.

The baby was born May 23rd 2023. His name is Silvio.
